Wildlight Entertainment lays off ‘number’ of staff; ‘core group’ to continue supporting Highguard

Wildlight Entertainment has laid off “a number” of staff while retaining a “core group” to continue supporting its recently launched free-to-play first-person shooter Highguard, the studio announced.

“Today we made an incredibly difficult decision to part ways with a number of our team members while keeping a core group of developers to continue innovating on and supporting [Highguard],” Wildlight Entertainment said. “We’re proud of the team, talent, and the product we’ve created together. We’re also grateful for players who gave the game a shot, and those who continue to be a part of our community.”

The statement comes following a LinkedIn post from now-former Wildlight Entertainment level designer Alex Graner, who said that he was laid off alongside “most of the team at Wildlight.”

The lay-offs come just over two weeks after Highguard‘s January 26 launch. The game itself was only first revealed at The Game Awards in December 2025.
