Details about the previously announced preview screenings for the Kagurabachi TV anime have arrived. The first part of this “world tour” will see Episode 1’s first 20 minutes being shown at Anime Expo, Anime NYC, Japan Expo Paris, and Mannheim’s AnimeagiC.
Here are the preview screening dates and locations:
• Anime Expo: July 3, 4:45 to 6:05 PM PDT, at the Los Angeles Convention Center’s JW Marriott Diamond
• Japan Expo Paris: July 9, 3:30 to 4:30 PM CEST, at the Parc des Expositions de Paris-Nord Villepinte’s Yuzu Stage
• AnimagiC: August 1, 10:30 -11:00 PM CEST, at the Rosengarten Mannheim’s Mozart Hall
• Anime NYC: August 22, at the Javits Convention Center;s Main Stage
Anime Expo and Japan Expo Paris will also feature Kagurabachi panels. The former will have voice actor Taihi Kimura (who plays protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira), the manga’s editor Takuro Imamura, and producer Koichi Yasuda as guests. For the Japan Expo Paris panel, Yasuda and the manga’s cross-media producer Riki Azuma will be present.
The Kagurabachi anime is set to begin airing in April 2027. Tetsuya Takeuchi (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! and Yuri Seijin Naoko-san, Lycoris Recoil Episode 4 storyboard artist and director, Tengoku-Daimakyo Episode 1 battle scene storyboarder et al.) is directing at CyPic (formerly Cygames Pictures). Keigo Sasaki (Umamusume: Cinderella Gray co-character designer, Blue Exorcist) is the character designer.
The Kagurabachi manga by Takeru Hokazono started serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023. Manga Plus provides Kagurabachi‘s chapters in English online, while Viz Media publishes its volumes. The latter’s synopsis reads:
As a young boy, Chihiro trains every day under his father to become a swordsmith. Although different in temperament, the two spend peaceful days laughing and working together. But one day, tragedy strikes… Now Chihiro burns with hatred and sets out to exact revenge. Following clues left behind by a ruthless yakuza organization, Chihiro confronts the Hishaku, a deadly group of sorcerers that may be behind his father’s murder!
