A TV anime adaptation of The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan light novels has been announced with a 2027 broadcast start date, teaser trailer, and teaser visual. Yuto Uemura is voicing protagonist Alus Reigin, a prodigy Magicmaster who tries to retire from the military at 16 and ends up at an academy.
Yusuke Suzuki (This Monster Wants to Eat Me) is directing the anime at HOTLINE. Other staff include Gigaemon Ichikawa (Himitsu no AiPri) as series composer and Yuki Kitajima as character designer.

The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan (Saikyo Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku) light novel, written by Izushiro and illustrated by Ruria Miyuki, began publication under Hobby Japan’s HJ Bunko label in 2017 and has 20 volumes as of 2025. J-Novel Club describes the synopsis as such:
In a world where the Fiends run rampant… Magicmaster Alus Reigin, the young prodigy that has defeated more Fiends and reclaimed more of humanity’s lost territory than anyone else alive, requests retirement from military service at age 16. But due to the twists and turns of fate surrounding his status as the No. 1 Magicmaster in the nation—the top Magicmaster out of more than 100,000—he ends up as a student at a special magical institute, hiding his identity and training his successors – a pair of beautiful Magicmaster girls! A Square Enix-published manga titled The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan: Alternative with art by Karu Yoneshiro is currently running, following a previous, short-lived manga adaptation. The story was a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel.
