The Within the Villainess TV anime has received a teaser visual, featuring the heroine of the otome game world it takes place in. Additionally, it was announced that Ayane Sakura will be playing the said heroine, and her voice can be heard with the accompanying heroine trailer.
In Within the Villainess (Akuyaku Reijo no Naka no Hito), a woman called Emi (Rie Takahashi) reincarnates as the otome game villainess Remilia Rose Graupner (Miyuki Sawashiro) and seeks to avoid Remilia’s fate through strategic relationships. When unexpected events occur, Remilia regains control of her body and decides to take revenge for Emi’s sake.
Yoshihisa Ida is directing the 2027 anime at ROLL2. Other staff include Hiroyuki Yoshino (Bye Bye, Earth) is as series composer and scriptwriter and Reiko Nagasawa (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1) as character designer.
Within the Villainess is based on the light novel series written by Makiburo and illustrated by Mai Murasaki. The series, published under the Ichijinsha Novels label, began publication in 2021 and has two volumes as of 2024. A manga adaptation by Nazuna Shiraume released its final chapter on May 30, 2025, the day of the anime’s announcement, and is getting an English release from Kana Imprint in 2027..
Within the Villainess previously debuted as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel in 2020.
