Goodbye, Lara Light Novel to Launch on October 9

A light novel adaptation of the ongoing Goodbye, Lara original TV anime is set to be released on October 9 under KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Bunko label.

Haruna Chihiro (Kono Sankaku Rabukome wa Shiawase ni naru Gimu ga aru) is penning the novelization with illustrations by Yu Kuroto (Konna Kawaii Inazuke ga iru no ni, Hoka no Ko ga Suki na no?).

The Goodbye, Lara anime, which is listed with 12 episodes, begin airing on July 5 at 24:30 JST (effectively July 6 at 00:30). The premise sees the mermaid princess Lara (Hana Hishikawa) being revived in modern-day Shiga, Japan, 200 years after a failed attempt to find true love on the surface world. To save her family and her kingdom, Lara once again embarks on a quest for love, becoming housemates with teen boxer Mari Otsu (Nana Kawaishi) in the process.

Goodbye, Lara is directed by Revue Starlight assistant director Takushi Koide in his series director debut, and serves as the 15th anniversary project of animation production studio Kinema Citrus. Shiori Tani (Revue Starlight prop designer, Revue Starlight the Movie co-main animator and animation director et al.) designed the characters, while Anna Kawahara (Ashita, Watashi wa Dareka no Kanojo live-action series co-writer) handled the series composition. Kawahara also shares scriptwriting duties with Yusuke Aose and Mai Inui.
