E3 Announcements and Impressions

E3 Announcements and Impressions 4

E3 2019 has come and gone and good lord, all I want to say is that it is a hell of a time to be alive and a gamer! I felt like there was so much content shown to us that it really is not a bad thing that Sony sat this year out. Naturally, not every game shown throughout the conferences is exclusive to specific consoles. I am a proud and happy owner of PlayStation 4 PRO, Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and a fairly decent gaming PC, so there was a little bit of something from every presentation that left me happy.

For those of you that perhaps had to work during the conferences, I will detail below the announcement of every conference of games as well any extra information if we know about it. My purpose here is to have a list without tons of extra info as I have seen in many other recaps. I will, of course, give my thoughts and opinions on certain bits and pieces following the lists.

I want to personally thank my brother, Lyam, who put together almost every one of these lists as E3 was unfolding live. You can find him on Twitter at @lyamwilhelm where you can generally find gaming news almost immediately as it happens.

Generally speaking, I felt very happy with all the announcements from all the great games that Xbox announced going to Gamepass day one to games like Breath of the Wild 2 being announced. I will admit though, what took the whole cake for me was the Square conference, and for obvious reasons.
E3 Announcements and Impressions 1

Let’s talk about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake for a minute. Can we all just agree that what we were expecting to see out of this game was not what we saw? I have no doubt that many people were as shocked as I was to see the level of detail in the longer video that Square played. The smallest details of seeing the Materia in Clouds Buster Sword to how intricate the boss fights were that we saw. I have probably watched that video no less than 10 times now and I continue to find things I never saw before. For now, all we know that is that this upcoming game will be only the Midgar section of the game. Of course, this leads me to wonder how many games will be released to recreate this timeless classic. All I know is that as long as they continue to release them, I will be there with arms wide open!

I couldn’t talk about E3 without mentioning the most darling moment of the entire E3 conference. I don’t know if anyone else noticed this and I just want to brag about the fact that Keanu Reeves told me that I was breathtaking! Well, I mean, not at first anyway!
E3 Announcements and Impressions

During the Xbox presentation, specifically the Cyberpunk 2077 section, we were all surprised at the end of the video to see a character appear that looks and sounds like Keanu. At that moment, a door opens and Mr. John Wick himself came out to announce he was in the game. It was during his speech that he made the comment “The feeling of being there, of walking the streets of the future, is really going to be breathtaking.” It was in that moment that YouTuber Peter Sark yelled, “You’re breathtaking!” to which Reeves returned the compliment verbatim, then said we’re all breathtaking, thus creating the cutest moment in E3 history. I love the fact that it is once again cool be a Keanu Reeves fan! It would appear that CD Projekt Red reached out to Peter Sark and are giving him a free Collectors Edition of Cyberpunk 2077 upon release. Awesome!! I just hope that this doesn’t influence people in the future to constantly blurt out comments in hopes of having the same treatment.

E3 2019 is now over and I am glad to see my Facebook and Twitter full of happy gamers. Our wallets will definitely feel a lot thinner over the next year with all the great releases, but ladies and gents, start saving now because with Microsoft releasing the Xbox Scarlett during the holidays, I can almost guarantee that Sony will be right there with them with the PlayStation 5. E3 2020 will be massive!
