Perry Chance of Show Up movers told The Post his “volume has increased by at least 70 percent” in the past few months. “[People] say the rich are leaving New York. Well, they are!”
July saw a 44 percent rise in home sales in area suburbs — with an astounding 112 percent hike in Westchester County — over the same month last year, reports Miller Samuel Real Estate Appraisers & Consultants. Manhattan property sales sunk 56 percent.
Jersey and Connecticut ’burbs are seeing the same. Heck, brokers all the way out in North Fork say business is booming — because more and more workers figure a long commute is no longer an issue, as they’ll work from home most of the time.
The exodus will tank city revenues, but de Blasio’s stuck on his old, old tune: “Help me tax the wealthy. Help me redistribute wealth,” he told WNYC’s Brian Lehrer last week.
So much for his promises to be the mayor for all New Yorkers: He’d rather drive the city down than face reality.
