Black Clover 2nd Season is set to begin airing this October. Before that, the first episode have its premiere at Anime Expo 2026 on July 4.
The AX2026 screening is part of a panel featuring director Ayataka Tanemura (Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, Black Clover Season 1’s second half) and Asta voice actor Gakuto Kajiwara. The panel will be held at the Peacock Theater from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
Black Clover‘s first season aired from 2017 to 2021. Crunchyroll, which is also set to stream the new season, describes its synopsis as such:
Asta and Yuno are two orphans who want the same thing: to become the Wizard King. Locked in a friendly rivalry, they work hard towards their goal. While Yuno excels at magic, Asta has a problem uncommon in this world: he has no powers! But, on the day they receive their grimoires, they surprise everyone. To reach their goal, they’ll each find their own path to greatness—with or without magic.
The first half of Season 1 was directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara (Chainsaw Man action director, Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 1 director, Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 chief director), who became chief director for the second. The season was followed by the Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King movie that premiered on Netflix in 2023 and was directed by Tanemura.
Black Clover is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Yuki Tabata. The manga, which began in 2015 and has 37 volumes as of 2025, was initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump an moved to Jump GIGA in late 2023. There are Black Clover spin-off manga, light novels, and video games.
