Blood Orange is back. After teasing his return online last week, Dev Hynes has dropped “The Field,” his first Blood Orange release since 2022. “The Field” includes contributions by Caroline Polachek, Eva Tolkin, Tariq Al-Sabir, and Daniel Caesar. The track, produced by Hynes, samples U.K. post-punk group The Durutti Column’s 1998 song “Sing to Me.” Watch the new video for “The Field” below.
Though there hasn’t been any Blood Orange music for three years, that doesn’t mean Hynes has not been busy. In 2023 he scored director Paul Schrader’s crime thriller Master Gardener while last year he provided the music for the Broadway production of Job. He also worked on the new Turnstile album, Never Enough, and has credits on Lorde’s forthcoming project Virgin. He will support Lorde on her Ultrasound world tour later this year.
