An up-and-coming boxer has tragically died after a senseless incident.
It’s with heavy hearts we report Hannah Rapp, an up-and-coming prospect on the boxing scene, has died at just 26 years old. On Sunday, ESPN reported the young athlete was riding her bicycle alongside a highway in Brazos County, Texas a day prior when a car passed her, suddenly stopped, then allegedly reversed into her.

According to the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just before 10:00 a.m. local time on Saturday. The Sheriff’s Office revealed in a statement:
“Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had struck a bicyclist, leaving an adult female lying in the roadway. First responders arrived on scene and provided emergency medical care before the victim was transported to a local hospital.”
Tragically, “despite lifesaving efforts,” Hannah “later passed away at the hospital.”

After launching an investigation, cops were able to identify the driver of the vehicle as 31-year-old Charles Medina, whom they arrested and charged with manslaughter. As of now, he’s in the Brazos County Detention Center and police believe his alleged road rage was an “isolated” incident.
Just last month, Hannah had competed in the World Boxing Council’s women’s featherweight championship against Tiara Brown. After winning the fight, Tiara sang Hannah’s graces, calling her “the best dance partner I have ever faced as a pro” in an Instagram post. She added:
“When she asked for my autograph, it filled my heart because we were getting ready for war … We fought a GREAT fight for the fans from the 1st bell to the last! It was my honor to share the ring with her.”
In the wake of Hannah’s death, the WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman honored her in a statement:
“The loss of Hannah Rapp leaves us heartbroken. She was an exceptional boxer, but above all, an invaluable member of our boxing family. We join in the grief that overwhelms her loved ones, her team, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and supporting her throughout her brilliant career.”
He added in an Instagram post:
“Deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing away of our champion Hannah Rapp. May she rest in eternal peace”
