“#Brian Kelly’s cringey dancing video with LSU recruit goes viral”
Twitter threw a Brian Kelly roast on Sunday after the new LSU coach showed off his questionable dance moves in a viral video.
Quarterback Walker Howard, a five-star recruit out of St. Thomas More High (La.) and an LSU commit, tweeted a video with Kelly, writing, “Got my coach!!”
As Howard tossed a football and threw up the Tigers’ “L” hand sign, Kelly danced awkwardly to Garth Brooks’ classic song, “Callin’ Baton Rouge” — a staple at Tiger Stadium.
Kelly smiled while he marched in place and pumped his arms. The quarterback and coach stood on a pedestal in the LSU-branded room with neon lights.
The video has been viewed 2.7 million times on Twitter as of Monday afternoon, with one user writing, “What is going on? Seriously. Someone thought this was a good idea.”
Howard, a Lafayette, La. native, is ranked as the No. 5 quarterback. His father Jamie Howard is a former LSU quarterback.
Last month, Kelly shook the college coaching circuit when he bolted from Notre Dame after 12 years to sign a deal with LSU worth a reported $100 million over 10 years. He replaced Ed Orgeron.
Orgeron, who led the Tigers to the 2019-20 national championship, agreed to a separation deal with LSU in October and went on to finish the season.
The move came just days after former Sooners coach Lincoln Riley abruptly left Oklahoma to take the head coach job at USC.
