Psychological first-person horror game BrokenLore: FOLLOW will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on June 1, developer Serafini Productions announced.
Here is an overview of the game, via Serafini Productions:
BrokenLore: FOLLOW is a psychological first-person horror experience that follows Anne, a young woman haunted by her painful past. After waking in her childhood home, she begins encountering surreal manifestations of her past memories and experiences.
Guided by her seemingly sentient childhood doll, Anne is forced to confront her issues with self-acceptance, self-worth, and her challenging relationship with her mother.
Through seven different chapters, Anne revisits key locations from her life and childhood, relives memories and experiences, and comes to terms with past mistakes and pains, all whilst being pursued by a terrifying entity that bears a striking resemblance to her mother.
BrokenLore: FOLLOW was developed with the guidance of psychologist Emanuela Papa, to ensure an accurate representation of the sensitive themes experienced in game.
“The title BrokenLore: FOLLOW was originally conceived as a direct echo of [Broken Lore: UNFOLLOW], almost like a broken or incomplete variation of it,” Serafini Productions said. “By removing a fragment of the previous title, the new name suggests the idea of subtraction, of something missing, and this reflects the very nature of Anne’s new journey. In this chapter, both the nightmare and the protagonist herself feel altered, incomplete, as if something essential had been taken away.”
It continued, “At the same time, FOLLOW also becomes part of a larger wordplay that connects three key titles in the saga: UNFOLLOW, FOLLOW, and [Broken Lore: LOW]. When placed side by side, these names create a linguistic and thematic chain that mirrors the progression of the story across the different chapters. In this sense, the title is not just a label, but a deliberate narrative clue, tied to Anne’s identity, to the fragmented nature of her experience, and to the wider structure of the BrokenLore universe.”
