Clark went on to hand Alonzo Menifield his first loss during a light heavyweight bout at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, winning by unanimous decision before he and his entire corner raised their fists together inside the ring, too.
The 30-year-old Clark did not speak after the fight because he was transported to a local hospital to tend to an eye injury.
Clark’s actions come in the wake of protests that have broken out across the country since the police-involved killing of George Floyd, a black man from Minneapolis. The UFC paid tribute to Floyd before an event last week.
UFC president Dana White also said he supported fighters exercising their freedom of speech just one day before Clark showed his solidarity in the ring.
“Because we should,” White said last week. “What happened was horrible and it’s something really affecting this country right now and the world. There’s riots going on everywhere, across the world, right now. It was the right thing to do.”
