Digable Planets reissues Blowout Comb on vinyl

Digable Planets will reissue their 1994 album Blowout Comb on October 23 in an expanded vinyl edition that includes “Land of Mu,” a previously unreleased track from the trio’s archive. The release is the latest in Capitol Record Club’s run of archival reissues, and pre-orders are open now.

The edition is limited to 2,000 individually numbered copies pressed on dark indigo vinyl. It pairs the original album with non-album tracks from the original recording sessions, plus a bonus 7-inch featuring “Land of Mu” and “Dedicated.” Levi Seitz remastered the album and cut the lacquers at Black Belt Mastering.

Blowout Comb followed the group’s 1993 debut Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time and Space), which introduced Butterfly, Ladybug Mecca, and Doodlebug. On the follow-up, the trio built on their sample-heavy, jazz-rooted sound with live instrumentation and guest spots from Guru and Jeru the Damaja.
