“#Driver rams into Israeli police checkpoint, 7 officers hurt”
A driver rammed a car into a police checkpoint in Jerusalem on Sunday, leaving seven officers injured, reports said.
The vehicle’s driver was quickly shot dead, authorities told the Jerusalem Post.
Video captured the small silver sedan crashing into the checkpoint in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah.
The injured police included a female officer shot in the leg by friendly fire and two others with moderate injuries, the outlet said.
The incident came amid a week of deadly back-and-forth attacks between Israel and the Palestinians.
Sheikh Jarrah has been at the center of the conflict, with six Palestinian families there facing an Israeli court order to vacate their homes so Israeli settlers can move in.
