Kyle Lauletta will be back on New Jersey roads again, but it may not be for long.

The former Giants quarterback, who was cut by the team before the 2019 season, is getting a tryout with the Jets, according to the NFL’s transaction wire on Wednesday.

The Giants began to sour on Lauletta, a 2018 fourth-round draft pick out of Richmond, when he was arrested for pulling an illegal turn and nearly hitting a police officer with his car on Oct. 30, 2018. The Giants fined him at the time.

On Jan. 15, 2019, Lauletta pleaded guilty to a disorderly persons offense stemming from the October arrest. Lauletta also admitted guilt to tickets for an improper turn and disregarding an officer’s instructions, during the Hudson Court proceeding in Jersey City. Another disorderly persons charge and an eluding police charge were dropped.

Though Lauletta is getting a tryout, it will be a tough climb for him to make the Jets.

Sam Darnold and Joe Flacco are the top quarterbacks on the depth chart. Flacco, who is recovering from neck surgery, is on the Physically Unable to Perform list but is expected to be able to play a few weeks in the season. James Morgan, whom the Jets selected in the fourth round of this year’s draft, David Fales and Mike White are the other quarterbacks on the roster.
