Interpol’s ’This Mirror Weighs a Ton:’ Release date, track list, and more

Today, Interpol announces their new album, This Mirror Weighs a Ton. The forthcoming record, out on Partisan Records (Geese, Fontaines D.C., Lip Critic), will be their first new album in four years, following the release of 2022’s The Other Side of Make-Believe. The new record will be released on August 28.

This Mirror Weighs a Ton was produced by Andrew Wyatt (ROSALÍA, Charli xcx), mixed by David Fridmann (Sleater-Kinney, MGMT), and recorded in New York City — their first time recording a record in their hometown in over a decade. Per a press release, the forthcoming record is set to feature an expanded sonic palette with woodwinds, vocal harmonies, and experimental sound design, in addition to the band’s signature guitar-forward production.

Alongside the announcement, Interpol shares two new songs, the title track, “This Mirror Weighs a Ton,” and “See Out Loud.” Both tracks are displays of the band’s new direction, featuring enveloping, layered production, and warm reverb that fills out its sonic landscape.
