Jaguar has published the first interior images of the Type 01, the electric grand tourer that will end a two-year gap in which it stopped selling new cars in the UK. The car is revealed in New York on October 6, after a delay from late 2025 and an expected price of around £100,000.
Jaguar has released the first images of the Type 01’s interior, two months before the car is revealed in New York. A brass-finished spine runs the length of the cabin, splitting it into four separate spaces, with a low driving position and a slim dashboard. The company says the palette draws on travertine stone.
The design language matters less than what the car has to carry. Jaguar stopped selling new cars in the UK in November 2024 and has been effectively absent from the market since, waiting on this model.
The Type 01 is the production version of the Type 00 concept shown in December 2024, the one that arrived with a rebrand and a “Copy Nothing” campaign that drew heavy mockery for showing no cars at all. Managing director Rawdon Glover said at the time the brand was “OK to be polarizing” and needed to stop blending in.
It was meant to arrive sooner. The car slipped from late 2025 into 2026, a delay Jaguar attributed to strategic realignment and production problems, and which coincided with a cyberattack that shut Jaguar Land Rover’s UK factories.
That attack was the most expensive in British corporate history, with estimates putting the cost to the wider UK economy at around £1.9bn, and JLR itself confirming a £196mn hit. It dragged parent company Tata Motors into a loss.
Expectations for the car itself are high. Trade coverage points to roughly £100,000, a triple-motor setup near 1,000hp and range beyond 400 miles, on a dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture built only for this brand. Jaguar has confirmed none of those figures.
What it has confirmed is the theatre. A prototype appears at Pebble Beach on August 16 in a new wrap, and the full reveal follows in New York on October 6, with a four-door GT positioned against the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS.
The gap between ambition and arrival has been the pattern. Jaguar Land Rover said back in 2021 that Jaguar would go all-electric by 2025. The first car of that plan reaches customers in 2026.
