President-elect Joe Biden is expected to tap Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a former assistant secretary of state and longtime diplomat, as ambassador to the United Nations, according to a report.

The appointment of Thomas-Greenfield, who is black, is intended to restore morale and make good on Biden’s pledge to name a diverse Cabinet, Axios reported on Sunday.

The announcement is expected on Tuesday, when Biden is also supposed to name his choice for secretary of state and Treasury secretary.

Biden is reportedly ready to name Antony Blinken, his campaign’s foreign affairs adviser, to lead the State Department.

Blinken has served in the Obama and Clinton administrations in the State Department and the National Security Agency.

Thomas-Greenfield was the US assistant secretary of state for Africa under President Obama from 2013 to 2017 and later joined former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright’s global strategy company, Albright Stonebridge Group.
