New previews for the upcoming Ikoku Nikki: Journal with Witch TV anime have been released in the form of a second trailer and second key visual.
It was also announced that the show will premiere in Japan on January 4 (effectively January 5 at 12 AM JST), and that Sayaka Ohara is voicing the character Minori, the deceased mother of co-protagonist Asa.
Ikoku Nikki: Journal with Witch is based on the Shodensha-published manga by Tomoko Yamashita, in which a shy novelist takes in her 15-year old orphaned niece. The manga debuted in the joseimuke magazine Feel Young in 2017 and released its 11th and final volume in 2023.
The manga placed first in the Book of the Year 2023 comic category of KADOKAWA’s Da Vinci magazine ranking. It also inspired a 2024 live-action movie adaptation.
The anime is part of this author’s list of 2026 TV anime to keep an eye on.
