The first main trailer and main visual for Just Like Mona Lisa have been revealed, along with the show’s 2027 broadcast start window.
The former includes a snippet of imase‘s “Mayoi wa Hikari,” which serves as the TV anime’s ending theme song.
The cast lineup has also been expanded to include Yoshino Aoyama, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Daisuke Sakuma, Chiharu, Kakeru Hatano, Haruna Mikawa, and Shion Wakayama. The characters they are playing were not revealed.
Just Like Mona Lisa (Seibetsu “Mona Lisa” no Kimi e.) is based on a manga by Tsumuji Yoshimura. The anime’s synopsis reads:
Hinase, the main character who continues to live genderless. Childhood friends Ritsu and Shiori, who have already chosen theirs. What is “love”? What does it mean to have something you want to cherish above all else? Their classmates and the adults around them struggle and hesitate alongside them, weaving the story together. What choice will Hinase make?
The original manga was serialized on Square Enix’s GANGAN Online and released its 10th and final volume in 2022. Manga Up! has it in English under the title The Gender of Mona Lisa.
