K2 Pictures has released a main trailer for the upcoming Look Back live-action movie, as well as two poster visuals.
The new previews come with the announcement of the film’s supporting cast, which consists of Masaki Suda as Weekly Shonen Jump editor Maeda, Kankuro Kudo as Fujino and Kyomoto’s elementary school teacher Tamai, Kayo Noro as Fujino’s mother Shuri, Ryo Ikeda as Fujino’s father Nishi, Miyu Sasaki as Fujino’s older sister Megumi, and Maho Yamada as middle school teacher Manabe.

Look Back will debut in Japan on September 11, and will later receive screenings in the US, Canada, the UK, and Ireland via GKIDS. It is based on the Shueisha-published one-shot by Chainsaw Man‘s Tatsuki Fujimoto, with the story following classmates Fujino and Kyomoto as they develop a friendship through their shared passion for drawing.
The movie is directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (Shoplifters, Broker, Monster) and stars Natsuki Deguchi as Fujino, Aju Makita as Kyomoto, Fūri Nanase as young Fujino, and Rokka Okada as young Kyomoto.
The Look Back one-shot, which is also available in English via Manga Plus and VIZ Media, was first released in July 2021. It previously inspired a 2024 anime movie adaptation directed by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers director, Chainsaw Man devil designer) and produced by Oshiyama’s Studio Durian. The anime won the Best Animated Work award at the 48th Japan Academy Film Prize.
