The Matsurika Kanriden light novel series is getting adapted into a TV anime.
The announcement comes ahead of the release of the light novels’ 18th volume on October 15 JST.
Described as a “Chinese Cinderella story,” Matsurika Kanriden‘s female protagonist is the titular Matsurika, a court lady of the rear palace with a good memory. That memory captures the interest of the emperor Hakuyo, who tells her to pass the Imperial exam.
The light novel series is written by Rinne Ishida and illustrated by Izumi. KADOKAWA publishes it under the B’s-LOG Bunko label. The first volume came out in 2017.

Matsurika Kanriden also has a manga and a spin-off titled 13-sai no Tanjobi, Kogo ni Narimashita. The spin-off has its own manga.
