An on-duty NYPD cop was shot in the arm Tuesday night after conducting a traffic stop in the Bronx, sources said.

The officer — who works for Bronx Borough public safety team — was shot by a 25-year-old suspect at about 11 p.m. near Claremont Parkway and Bathgate Avenue, according to law enforcement sources.

The cop returned fire, striking the suspect in the head.

Sources said the wounded cop was taken in a police cruiser to Lincoln Hospital and is expected to recover.

The suspect was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in grave condition, sources said.

A firearm was recovered on scene, sources said, and at least six shots were fired during the shootout.
