One person was killed and three others injured — two of them seriously — in a scaffolding collapse Thursday afternoon in Midtown Manhattan, according to FDNY sources.

Just how the 4:30 p.m. collapse unfolded wasn’t immediately clear, but photographs of the aftermath on East 36th Street near Lexington Avenue show the sidewalk shed scaffolding sinking under the weight of debris, including what appear to be bricks.

Above it, a movable platform — similar to that used for window-washing — dangled, the cables on one side apparently having given way.

One person was dead, and three others injured, according to FDNY sources.

Of the survivors, two sustained serious injuries, while the third’s wounds were deemed non-life-threatening.
