10. Voice of the Heart – Whisper of the Heart

One day Shizuku notices that the name Seiji Amasawa appears in all of the books she has checked out from the library. She looks for and finds the name in other books she has recently read. Someone else, someone she doesn’t know, has exactly the same taste in books as she does somewhere. He’s read every book she reads and she’s not sure if she likes that idea. The following day, Shizuku is on her way to bring her father’s lunch when she discovers an ordinary-looking cat that is on the train all alone. When the animal leaves the train at the station where Shizuku also has to get off, the girl decides to follow her. The chance encounter with the cat leads Shizuku to Seiji Amasawa’s house, she gets to know a family who loves music and the mystical and magical cat teaches them to search for “the hidden treasures” of life. Shizuku dreams of becoming a writer. Seiji wants to go to Italy and become a famous violin maker. He has applied to a school in Italy and is waiting for their answer. There are several obstacles to the joint happiness of Siji and Shizuku; both have their own dream that leads them in different directions. Yet their feelings for one another are strong.

 

9. The poppy mountain

When one day an article about Umi’s morning ritual appears in the school newspaper, she visits the newspaper’s editorial office and meets the editor Shun, who fascinates her straight away.
