Cleveland police have issued an arrest warrant for a former dance teacher accused of molesting a student, according to a report.

Terence Greene, 54, a onetime instructor at the Cleveland School of Arts, is facing a felony charge of sexual battery for allegedly abusing the student in 2008, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Thursday.

Detectives said they’re also investigating complaints from other former students about “extremely similar incidents that happened to them,” the outlet said.

Greene has a long history of sexual abuse allegations, including criminal charges in 2003 and claims by at least seven students at the school in 2014, the outlet said.

Earlier this year, he quit his job at Cuyahoga County Community College after he was accused by another student.

“I’ve kept this in for such a long period of time and I was afraid what might happen if I was to say something,” one accuser told Plain Dealer. “But through the years it’s been eating at me to know that there may be other students like myself and who also may be prey to his personal desires.”

The 2003 charges accused Greene of sexually abusing a 14-year-old at the school between April 2002 and June 2003 — but he was later found not guilty at a non-jury trial and continued working at the school.

In 2014, a former student messaged the school district’s superintendent to say Greene had abused him in the 9th grade and wanted to come forward. He later told the administrator he had found more alleged victims.

The claims by seven students were forwarded to local police. However, Detective Tom Ross, who was assigned the case, had a 91-case backlog and was soon promoted, leaving most of the claims dormant. Ross was eventually demoted in 2018 for failing to follow through.

Nonetheless, the claims prompted the Cleveland School of Arts to cease renewing Greene’s contracts. That’s when he went to work at Cuyahoga Community College, where he taught dance to children from 6 to 18 years old until this year, the Plain Dealer reported.

The charges filed Thursday accuse Greene of abusing a student in September 2008 and then telling him not to tell anyone, the outlet said.
