A trailer for Steins;Gate Re:Boot‘s new route has been released. It’s an adaptation of the Gamma worldline, which was previously drama CD content, and the trailer teases that “The Mad Scientist Hououin Kyouma does not exist in this worldline.”
Steins;Gate Re:Boot is launching on August 20 in Japan for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. The MAGES-developed title will be out on October 29 in North America and Europe. It was previously scheduled for a 2025 release.
The remake’s scenario is based off Steins;Gate Elite, the 2018 remaster of the original Steins;Gate that featured footage from the TV anime and new animated sequences. It promises re-recorded lines and remade background music from composer Takeshi Abo, revamped visuals, additional event stills and background visuals, new dialogue and text, and pacing tweaks. Character sprites have also been animated with E-mote. There will be Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitle options, and physical releases for both Switches and PS5.
Here’s the synopsis, via Steam:
STEINS;GATE follows a ragtag group of tech-savvy students led by Rintaro Okabe, whose latest invention accidentally gains the ability to send messages to the past, unleashing the power to alter history itself.
As global conspiracies stir and timelines begin to twist, the curtain rises on a future steeped in chaos.
