A new key visual, trailer, additional cast members, and main theme songs have been revealed for the upcoming The Cat and the Dragon TV anime series. The anime will begin broadcasting on Japanese television on July 4, 2026.
The latest trailer highlights the anime’s main theme songs, which include the opening theme “Nekohi” by suis from the rock duo YORUSHIKA and ending theme “Tadaima no Basho” by shallm.
The new cast members joining the series include:

- • Yoji Ueda as Monsha-Mosha IV
- • Saho Shirasu as Mike-Mike
- • Natsuki Hanae as Monaruka (Black)
- • Tomohisa Aso as Pompora
Meanwhile, the anime’s previously announced voice cast will star:

- • Sho Hayami as Kurobane

The Cat and the Dragon anime series will also stream one week earlier on the ABEMA and d Anime Store services in Japan on June 27, 2026 before its television broadcast.
Jin-Koo Oh (Oi! Tonbo) is directing the anime series, with Mitsutaka Hirota (Rent-A-Girlfriend, This Monster Wants to Eat Me) as series composer, and Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu as character designers. OLM is in charge of the animation production.
The fantasy light novel series is written by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma. It was first published by Takarajimasha on April 22, 2016 and has released nine volumes as of November 2025. The series was published as a Shoestsuka ni Naro web novel from 2013 to 2014.
A manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki was launched in September 2017.
Crunchyroll will stream The Cat and the Dragon anime in select countries and territories worldwide, describing the main premise as
