The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 is set to begin its broadcast in 2026. A teaser visual was released with the announcement.

The Detective Is Already Dead is based on the KADOKAWA-published light novel series written by Nigojuu and illustrated by Umibouzu. Yen Press describes the story as:
Kimitsuka Kimihiko was the assistant to a beautiful detective named Siesta — until Siesta died, anyway. Now, Kimitsuka has encountered a girl who bears an uncanny resemblance to his former boss…
The series began in 2019 and won the 15th MF Bunko J Light Novel Rookie of the Year award that year. Volume 13 will be released on July 25, 2025 JST.
There is a manga adaptation as well as spin-offs in both manga and light novel form.
