The opening seven minutes of anime film The Last Blossom (Hosenka) have been released on YouTube. The movie will open in Japanese theaters on October 10 JST.
The Last Blossom is the new project from Odd Taxi director Baku Kinoshita and Odd Taxi writer Kazuya Konomoto. The protagonist is an inmate who thinks back to his life in 1986, when he was living with a woman called Nana and her son, in an apartment with a garden of hosenka flowers. Kinoshita told Anime Trending that he hopes “the audience and viewers will appreciate the beauty of living after watching this film.”
The movie was part of Annecy 2025’s Feature Film Competition and featured in Annecy 2024’s Work-in-Progress lineup. Annecy’s synopsis reads:
