The World’s Strongest Rearguard Gets New Trailer

A second trailer for The World’s Strongest Rearguard TV anime has been released, following the reveal of its July 5 broadcast start date last month. The opening theme song “license” by Redhair Rosy and the ending song “Owaranai Yoru no Mamorikata” by Inner Journey are previewed in it.

The World’s Strongest Rearguard (Sekai no Saikyo Koei) is based on the light novel series written by Towa and illustrated by Huka Kazabana. Yen Press describes the books’ synopsis as such:

Corporate slave Arihito Atobe’s death in a freak bus accident marks the beginning of his new life as a kind of adventurer called a Seeker. Reborn into a fantasy world, he settles into a previously unknown job class called “rearguard,” capable of providing his (all-female) party with critical attack, defense, and recovery support. And it comes with an added bonus: Simply being at the back of the party line increases his companions’ fondness for him! Freed from the shackles of corporate life, Arihito is eager to start fresh.

The World’s Strongest Rearguard was originally a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel that began in 2017. The light novel series, which is published under the Kadokawa Books label, was launched in the same year and has nine volumes as of September 2025. There is a manga by Rikizo.
