The World’s Strongest Rearguard has released its key visual featuring its main cast. The series is set to premiere on July 5.
Written by Towa and illustrated by Huka Kazabana, The World’s Strongest Rearguard is a fantasy light novel series that was originally published as a web novel on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in April 2017 before being published under Kadokawa Books as a light novel series in November 2017. As of May 2026, nine light novels were published. The series inspired a manga adaptation by Rikizo.
Yen Press has licensed and is publishing both the manga and light novel series in English. They describe the synopsis of the first volume as:
Corporate slave Arihito Atobe’s death in a freak bus accident marks the beginning of his new life as a kind of adventurer called a Seeker. Reborn into a fantasy world, he settles into a previously unknown job class called “rearguard,” capable of providing his (all-female) party with critical attack, defense, and recovery support. And it comes with an added bonus: Simply being at the back of the party line increases his companions’ fondness for him! Freed from the shackles of corporate life, Arihito is eager to start fresh as a newly minted Seeker!
