Less than an hour after sunrise, at around 6:30 a.m., a 35-year-old man was shot dead in the hallway of his Dix Avenue apartment complex in Far Rockaway, Queens, police said.
Responding officers found the unidentified victim with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was rushed to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to cops. The suspect ran off, police said.
Less than two hours earlier in the borough, a 34-year-old man walked into the 103rd precinct station house in Jamaica with a gunshot wound to his torso, police said.
He told officers he was shot somewhere on Hollis Avenue, police said. He’s listed in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital, officials said.
In the Bronx, two people were fatally shot in a span of about three hours.
At around 1:35 a.m. in Laconia, an unknown person blasted Forest Byrd, 34, in the waist and left arm, killing him, police said. No arrests have been made.
And at around 10:41 p.m. Friday, a masked shooter gunned down Shaiquan Wilson at a gathering outside of 1741 Randall Avenue in Clason Point, harrowing surveillance video released by cops shows.
The shooter — dressed in a white face mask and all-black clothing, including a hooded sweatshirt pulled low over his eyes — can be seen in the footage walking up to Wilson, 21, and pulling a silver handgun from his pocket.
Police found Wilson unresponsive and with a fatal gunshot wound to the torso.
Cops are seeking the public’s help in identifying Wilson’s shooter. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
There’s been a roughly 70-percent jump in gunplay across the city this year, according to the NYPD.
