Tiffany Day’s “START OVER” is a glitch pop crash out

It’s another bright lights banger from the self-produced internet pop artist.

Los Angeles singer-producer Tiffany Day has been plastered across my timeline lately.

In November, she released “PRETTY4U,” a strobe light crowd pleaser highlighting her bubbly sense of melody and lyrical churlishness. That song showed Day can merge multiple worlds at once: the keyboarding smashing production of 2hollis, the concise pop economy of Tate McRae, and the emo affect of glaive.

That synthesis was on full display with follow up singles including the bleary tearjerker “AMERICAN GIRL,” the choreo-ready “BREAKUP” and the viral, trap-inflected diary rip, “TELL ME WHAT I DID.”

She’s back with “START OVER,” a bouncy piece of glitch pop circling the drain of a crush-induced crash out. I’m consistently impressed by Day’s production, which is riddled with little flourishes and surprising rhythmic details. There’s also a lyrical and vocal immediacy to Day’s performance that cuts through and creates a new sense of gravity.

Day’s sophomore album HALO will be out April 3. The 13-track LP is released independently, produced by the artist and her “most trusted and talented friends.”
