“Tom Suozzi has a Mike Pence 2.0 debate moment with a bug”
Tom Suozzi was interrupted on the debate stage Thursday night by a big black house fly that was reminiscent of the insect that gave former Vice President Mike Pence his biggest viral moment.
The Pence 2.0 moment brought back memories of the errant house fly that stole the show during the 2020 vice presidential debate in Utah — so much so that kids now wear the bug as costumes for Halloween.
“Governor! Governor! Governor!” the Long Island congressman shouted at a visibly annoyed Hochul as he was trying desperately to get her attention and defend his LGBTQ record.

But unlike Pence — who didn’t notice the massive bug buzzing about — Suozzi swiped his hand across his face trying to catch it.
“I caught the fly and crushed it, just like I’ll crush the crime crisis!” Suozzi told The Post in a phone call after the debate ended.
Hochul slammed Suozzi for backtracking controversial comments he made in support of the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill barring gender identity and sexual orientation discussions in the classroom signed into law by Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.
The Long Island pol was visibility disturbed – both in his failing efforts to capture Hochul’s attention and by the pesky creature flying around his head.
Hochul’s campaign press secretary Jen Goodman later poked fun at the disarray, tweeting a side-by-side photo of Suozzi and Pence:
