WEBTOON announced that it is teaming up with DJ and producer Slushii’s SONICdream creative label on a new webcomic series titled Sapient Dream. The webcomic will debut exclusively on the English-language platform on July 6, 2025.
The original “shonen action” science fiction webcomic is created by Julian Scanlan (the real name of Slushii) and anime producer Rob Pereyda, with production being credited to Merryweather Media.
Sapient Dream is described as a work that builds off of Slushii’s hit song, “Past Lives.” which has amassed over 16 billion streams on TikTok and YouTube. Each webcomic episode will feature brand-new immersive music overlays created just for WEBTOON that interplay with Slushii’s upcoming Chrysalis album.
Slushii and WEBTOON will also be present at Anime Expo 2025 for a joint panel appearance about Sapient Dream, a meet & greet at the WEBTOON Booth (Entertainment Hall E-90), and a special Anime Expo concert.

- • Slushii: Operation Overload DJ Set (July 5, 2025 at 12:30 AM to 1:45 AM PST)
- • Slushii Meet and Greet (July 6, 2025 at 1:00 – 2:00 PM PST; WEBTOON Booth E-90)

WEBTOON describes the main synopsis of Sapient Dream as:
Sapient Dream follows Kuro, a seemingly average high schooler plagued by vivid, surreal dreams. When he rescues a mysterious alien sludge monster, Kuro is thrust into a galaxy-spanning battle against dark forces that threaten his reality — and his identity. As Kuro unlocks unexpected powers and forms unlikely alliances, he must confront the nightmare that connects his dreams to the fate of the universe.
