Witch on the Holy Night Movie Gets 2 Key Visuals With Aoko

Two key visuals for the upcoming Witch on the Holy Night anime movie have been released, with both highlighting main heroine Aoko Aozaki and a mansion. One visual also features Alice Kuonji in the background.

The double visual release is described as a collaboration between the original visual novel’s ︀︀TYPE-MOON and the anime’s production studio ufotable.

The Witch on the Holy Night visual novel was first released for PC in Japan in 2012. A fully voiced, full HD version was released for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in December 2022 and came to Steam in December 2023. The story description for the remaster (via Steam) reads:

In the mansion on the hill, there lived two witches…

It is the late 1980s—the twilight of an era of beauty and vigor.
A boy moves to the city, barely missing two witches living in modern times.

The boy leads a completely ordinary life.
She carries herself with gallant pride.
The girl lives a sleepy, hidden life.

Each walks a starlit path.
One would never expect their paths to cross.
The story of how these three disparate people came together is soon to be told.

Like the remastered visual novel, the movie stars Haruka Tomatsu as Aoko, Yusuke Kobayashi as Sojuro Shizuki, and Kana Hanazawa as Alice. 

Aoko first showed up in the 2000 visual novel Tsukihime (which takes place after Witch on the Holy Night and has received a remake of two of its routes), and has appeared in various other Type-Moon-related titles like the Melty Blood fighting game series. Another Witch on the Holy Night character, Aoko’s sister Touko Aozaki, is a major character in The Garden of Sinners light novel series, which has been adapted into a series of anime films also produced by ufotable. 

The Witch on the Holy Night movie opens in Japanese theaters on November 20.
