Final Fantasy 7: Ultimate Limit Break Locations

Final Fantasy VII Remake is bringing Limit Breaks back, but it will hopefully make them a lot easier to acquire, as the best Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII were tricky to find. The Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII were incredibly powerful attacks that were tied to a meter that fills up whenever a character took a hit, and they were some of the most visually impressive and memorable attacks in the game.

The Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII are leveled up by repeatedly using them and killing enemies. With the exception of Cait Sith, the party members in Final Fantasy VII require the use of a special item to unlock their final Limit Break and these are usually well-hidden, held by a powerful boss, or tied to a quest.

The strongest Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII require a lot of hard work to find, as they come from the strategy guide era of gaming. The people who are excited about Final Fantasy VII Remake and want to try the original game are in luck, as we have provided a guide for finding the strongest Limit Breaks in Final Fantasy VII.

Aerith’s final Limit Break is the Great Gospel. Once the player acquires the buggy, they need to cross the sea and reach a cave that is northeast of Junon beyond shallow waters. Inside the cave, there is an old man who will give the player a treasure if the last two digits of the number of battles they fought match. If the final two numbers are both odd or are the number zero, then the old man will give the player a piece of Mythril.

Once the player has acquired the Tiny Bronco, they can sail to a cabin that can be found on a small island near Gongaga. A weapon seller lives in the house and the player can trade the Mythril for the Great Gospel manual.

Cloud’s final Limit Break is Omnislash and it might be the hardest one to acquire. The player needs to win Battle Points in the Gold Saucer’s Battle Square. The Omnislash manual costs 51200 Battle Points before the player acquires the Highwind and 32000 after. The Battle Square involves a series of battles, where a single character must face off against different teams of enemies while random effects occur between each round. The grind is well worth it, however, as Omnislash might be the best Limit Break in Final Fantasy VII.

Barret’s final Limit Break is called Catastrophe and it can be acquired once the player finishes the Huge Materia quest in Coral. It doesn’t matter if the player manages to stop the train on time, as they can still acquire the manual. Once the quest is finished, the player needs to find the woman in the green cap in the town, who will give them the Catastrophe manual.

Tifa’s strongest Limit Break is called Final Heaven. Once Cloud & Tifa rejoin the party after the events in Mideel, the player needs to return to Nibelheim with Tifa in the group and play a tune on the piano. If playing the game using a PlayStation controller, the inputs are X, square, triangle, L1 + triangle, L1+square, X, square, triangle, L1 + X, circle, X, square, and X. If playing the game using a Nintendo Switch controller, the inputs are A, Y, X, L + X, L + Y, A, Y, X, L + A, B, A, Y, A.

If the player hits the right notes, Tifa will discover a message from her old martial arts teacher, as well as the Final Heaven manual.

Red XIII’s final Limit Break is the Cosmo Memory. The player needs to visit the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim and work out how to open the safe. The player needs to input the following numbers – right 36, left 10, right 59, right 97.

Once the safe is open, the player will have to fight an optional boss called the Lost Number. If the player fights the Lost Number when they reach Nibelheim for the first time, then they will be in for a rough battle, as it’s probably the toughest boss in the game up until that point. Once the Lost Number is defeated, the player will receive the Cosmo Memory manual.

Cait Sith only has access to two Limit Breaks and these can be acquired through normal play. The player doesn’t need to find any special items to use Cait Sith’s Slots Limit Break. Cait Sith might seem like one of the weakest Final Fantasy characters, but his Slots Limit Break can be used to OHKO some of the strongest enemies in the game, so long as the player is willing to game the system.

Cid’s final Limit Break is Highwind. Once the player has acquired the submarine they need to search the ocean floor for a downed plane known as the Gelnika, which can be found on the east coast of the western continent. The Gelnika is one of the best hidden locations in Final Fantasy VII, but there is a lot of treasure to be had for those brave enough to reach the cargo hold. The Highwind manual can be found in a chest in the bottom right corner of the cargo hold.

Yuffie’s final Limit Break is called All Creation and the player needs to complete the Wutai sidequest before they can attempt to find the manual. Once the quest has been completed, Yuffie can attempt the pagoda challenge, which involves defeating five bosses in separate battles. Yuffie has to fight these battles on her own, so the player should go into the battle with all of the strongest summons and have an Enemy Skill Materia with Big Guard/White Wind to keep her alive. Once Yuffie defeats the fifth boss, she will gain the All Creation manual.

Vincent’s Limit Break is called Chaos. Vincent’s final Limit Break can be found as part of the hidden Lucrecia’s Cave sidequest in Final Fantasy VII. In order to reach Lucrecia’s Cave, the player needs either the submarine or a blue Chocobo to reach the hidden waterfall in the middle of the western continent. The player needs to visit the cave with Vincent in the party, which will trigger a cutscene. The player then needs to leave the cave and fight ten different random battles. When they return to the cave, they will find the Chaos Limit Break resting on the altar.

Final Fantasy VII is available on PC, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
