GLEIPNIR Lets the Dogs out with Cast Listing and Release Date
Anime is going to the dogs this spring—specifically one big dog with a zipper up his back.
The anime adaptation of Sun Takeda’s manga GLEIPNIR has locked in a release date, along with lead cast members. The story, about a schoolboy who can turn into a giant gun-wielding dog suit and the girl using him in her search for revenge, is currently running in Kondansha’s Young Magazine the Third.
Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) will be starring as the transforming Shuichi. Nao Toyama (Tomoe Koga, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) stars as Claire Aoki, with Kana Hanazawa (Mayuri Shiina, Steins;Gate) as her sister Elena.
Former Kalafina member Hikaru Masai will be performing the OP as part of her new act, H-el-ical//.
According to a summary from Kodansha, which publishes the English translation of the GLEIPNIR manga:
Shuichi Kagaya is an ordinary high school kid in a boring little town. But when a beautiful classmate is caught in a warehouse fire, he discovers a mysterious power: he can transform into a furry dog with an oversized revolver and a zipper down his back. He saves the girl’s life, sharing his secret with her. But she’s searching for the sister who killed her family, and she doesn’t care how degrading it gets: she will use Shuichi to accomplish her mission …
GLEIPNIR kicks off April 2020 on TOKYO MX.
