One day after the final performance of its eighth show “Hishou (Flying)” in Tokyo, the official website for the stage adaptation of Haruichi Furudate’s volleyball-themed sports manga Haikyu!! announced today that its next ninth show titled “Hyper Projection Engeki Haikyu!! Saikyo no Challenger (The Strongest Challengers)” is already slated for the spring of 2020.
The stage play project was launched in November 2015 and has performed more than 300 times. Its eighth show featuring all-new cast members of Karasuno High, including 19-year-old Kotaro Daigo (the voice of Hodaka Morishima in Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering with You) as the protagonist Shoyo Hinata, was performed in Tokyo, Osaka, and Miyagi from November 1 to December 15, 2019.
The forthcoming ninth show will focus on the match between Karasuno High and Inarizaki High, which has garnered a reputation as the “strongest challengers.” In the original manga, it was held as the second match of the second day in the Spring High National Tournament. All of the main cast from the eighth show are set to reprise their roles. General sales of the advance tickets will begin on February 23, 2020.
