As we head towards that time of the year when tax savings and Income Tax is on top of every employee’s mind, the Income Tax department has come with a handy advisory. Each year, the department takes note of SMS and email to warn people about fakes messages claiming to be from the IT department which ultimately aims to spread money through phishing attacks.

In order to protect citizens from falling for phishing scams, the IT department, in advance, has released the names of all the official domains from which it sends notices, advises, receipt, ITR acknowledgements and other communications to citizens.

The department has warned that only these sources of income tax messages are real and others are fake. It is highly advised that before opening any SMS or email from the IT department first check whether the message is sent from the verified source. Check from spellings and the position of the dot.
