#Seth Rogen Joins Shazam Director For Amazon's Fear Agent Comic Series -BB

Seth Rogen has joined Shazam! director David F. Sandberg for Amazon’s television adaptation of the comic series, Fear AgentFear Agent is a sci-fi comic book series written by Rick Remender, about an alcoholic Texas spaceman named Heathrow Huston. Huston is part of a task force that fights alien threats. The comic series, published by Image Comics, was first released in 2005 for an 11-issue run.

Writer Rick Remender is also known for his work on Uncanny X-Force and Deadly Class. He also served as the showrunner on the television adaptation of Deadly Class. The artwork for the comics was created by Tony Moore and Jerome Opena. The original comics were critically acclaimed. As early as 2009, Universal Pictures was working on creating a movie adaptation of the series, but it never came to fruition.

According to THRSeth Rogen will be teaming up with David F. Sandberg and Morbius producer Matt Tolmach to create the TV adaptation. Sandberg is best known for directing Shazam! and Annabelle: Creation. He will be serving as executive producer and director. Amazon beat out HBO Max, Peacock, and TNT in a competitive bidding war for the rights to the title. Rogen and his partners from Point Grey Productions will also be executive producing along with David Manpearl and Tolmach. Mattson Tomlin, one of the co-writers of the upcoming The Batman, will write the pilot. Remender has signed a three-year deal with Sony Pictures Television. They previously worked together when Sony adapted the aforementioned Deadly Class into a series.

The team behind the show are planning to maintain the offbeat tone of the comics. This seems to be in line with the logline that was provided: „Interstellar invaders. Time travel. Clones of clones of clones, and lots of whiskey. Whether he’s battling the scourge of space, going back in time to stop the alien invasion that changed earth forever, or winning his ex-wife back, there’s nothing that Heath Huston won’t do to try to right the wrongs and gets his family back. He is, after all, the last Fear Agent.

Fear Agent has a ton of talent and experience backing the project. Rogen has already helped create a successful time travel-based series, with Future Man having finished its second season last year. Interest in Fear Agent has also been very high, stretching back as far as 2009. Hopefully, Fear Agent will fair better than Remender’s other television adaptation, Deadly Class, which was cancelled after its freshman season. Based on the source material, plus the inclusion of Shazam!’s Sandberg, the show is sure to be wacky, and Rogen is no stranger to that concept.
