This Mandalorian Fan Animation Would Make An Awesome Star Wars Cartoon -BB

The Mandalorian proves it would make a great cartoon thanks to a fan made animation of Mando and Baby Yoda. The extremely popular Disney+ streaming show’s second season is confirmed to premiere this fall, with the show’s first season accomplishing the feat of the being the number one in demand streaming show for December 2019.

The show takes place five years after the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi. A solitary bounty hunter played by Game of Thrones actor Pedro Pascal completes missions across the galaxy, all while protecting the Child, a fifty year old green alien that is being hunted by the Client. While the Child is from the same species as Yoda, the character fans have dubbed Baby Yoda is not the same Yoda from the original and prequel movie trilogies. Baby Yoda’s character became a viral sensation when The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+, and has inspired countless memes, fan videos, and unauthorized yet adorable merchandise items. The Mandalorian only recently premiered, but to great acclaim amongst fans and critics alike that doesn’t seem to be burning out anytime soon even though the first season just ended.

A Reddit user posted a cool fan made animation created by artist Darren Tibbles featuring Baby Yoda and Mando. Presumably off on another action packed mission, the now iconic Star Wars characters keep moving onward. The animation is incredibly well done, with great attention to detail. (Note the sunlight reflecting off of Mando’s armor for example.) Check out the cool clip below. It’s challenging not to imagine the video acting as a great teaser clip for a Mandalorian cartoon series.

There would probably be great interest in an official Mandalorian animated series, given the immediate success of the live action program and other hit Star Wars cartoon series like The Clone Wars and Rebels. Fans adore The Mandalorian and will clearly welcome any related content until the second season of the live-action version premieres this fall. Perhaps even a cute mini cartoon series featuring Baby Yoda’s adventures would tide fans over who are still waiting on more official Baby Yoda merchandise.

Star Wars has had an equal amount of hits and misses ever since Disney took over Lucasfilm. For every sleeper hit like Rogue One there’s been duds like Solo: A Star Wars Story. While the future of Star Wars is still somewhat up in the air after the conclusion to the Skywalker saga disappointing fans and critics, The Mandalorian has proven itself as a strong critically acclaimed foundation from this point forward for the next phase of a galaxy far far away. Never was there a greater risk of telling the tale of an unknown bounty hunter and a Baby Yoda in Star War’s first ever live action series, but it has certainly paid off.
