#Final Season Wins Anime of the Season Spring 2021

After its third and final season of the reboot, Fruits Basket: Final Season takes the title for anime of the season for Spring 2021. The series originally debuted in Spring 2019 and was the runner-up for Anime of the Season that season. 

The anime also secured many other seasonal titles including Momiji Souma for Favorite Supporting Male Character, Kyou x Tohru for Favorite Couple/Ship, Favorite Romance, and Slice of Life anime of the season, and Best in Voice Cast.

At the start of the season, Fruits Basket: Final Season had a humble start placing sixth and eighth during Week 1 and 2 respectively in the Anime of the Week Charts. It would then dominate the first-place slot three times throughout the season. 

Fruits Basket: Final Season, Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-, HIGEHIRO: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway, and 86: EIGHTY-SIX all secure a nomination spot for Anime of the Year in the upcoming 8th Anime Trending Awards. 

Despite being an original anime series, which typically has a tough time in the Anime of the Week Charts, Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song placed second this season and won the most Aspect Awards nominations including Best in Animation, Best in Character Design, Best in Original Screenplay, Best in Sceneries and Visuals, and Best in Soundtrack. The anime project was unique as the story was originally written by Re:ZERO’s author Tappei Nagatsuki and the screenplay for the Re:ZERO anime Eiji Umehara. It’s a good year for Nagatsuki as Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 Part 2 won Anime of the Season for Winter 2021 in April.

ODDTAXI, which is viewed as the dark horse of the anime season, received praise across the community with its final episode. It placed 15th in the final Anime of the Week charts and secured Best in Voice Cast and Best in Original Screenplay for the 8th Anime Trending Awards.
