Yesterday’s incident occurred when a group loyal to Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building to protest Congress’ formal approval of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election. The riot caused members of Congress to shelter in place, the formal electoral college proceedings were postponed, and one woman was killed during the breach. Congress reconvened hours later to confirm Biden’s election.
