#Kingdom Hearts is Getting a New Mobile Game Based on Xehanort -BB

There’s a new Kingdom Hearts mobile game in the works for 2020, and it’s going to follow the sinister Master Xehanort. Square Enix has just announced a new title, code-named Project Xehanort, which will follow the titular character’s journey to becoming the main antagonist of the long-running crossover series.

Earlier reports indicated that Square Enix would be putting out a new spin-off in its popular Disney/Final Fantasy mash-up franchise sooner rather than later, with the series’ Japanese social media account teasing that such a game would be coming “surprisingly soon.” It has since been revealed that this game is set to arrive this spring, and will feature the backstory of the evil Xehanort, a master of the Keyblade who sought to prove darkness was stronger than light by orchestrating a battle between his villainous Organization XIII and the series’ protagonists in the fabled Keyblade Graveyard.

According to GamesRadar, Square Enix announced the tentatively-titled Project Xehanort on a newly set up Twitter account yesterday, in addition to a new website promoting the upcoming title with the question “Why did he become the seeker of darkness?” and a “Spring 2020” release date. Furthermore, the site is hosting a special “Guess the Name Campaign” on Twitter, asking fans to predict the game’s real title in exchange for prizes.

This news is coming fresh off the release of the Kingdom Hearts 3: ReMind DLC, which is available to download as of the time of this writing. This highly-anticipated add-on promises to expand on the ending of the main game, detailing lead hero Sora’s quest to find the missing Kairi and allowing players to take control of Sora’s friends during certain parts of the episode. Other features include a special “Data Greeting” mode for creating custom photos of the game’s characters and locales, as well as a new boss rush mode against significantly powered-up members of Organization XIII.

Over the course of three main console games and multiple handheld spin-offs, Master Xehanort carried out a long and often confusing plan to spread the power of darkness throughout the worlds of the Kingdom Hearts universe, only being stopped by Sora and his friends at the conclusion of Kingdom Hearts 3. Fans are still left with several unanswered questions regarding the self-appointed Seeker Of Darkness’ motives and origins, only being shown glimpses throughout the series in the form of flashbacks. Now it seems Square Enix is ready to reveal more details about the enigmatic villain in this new game, which is due to arrive on mobile phones in the span of a few months. Of course, knowing Kingdom Hearts, any answers Project Xehanort gives will undoubtedly lead to even more questions, and Xehanort himself wouldn’t have it any other way.
