„Does The Gentlemen Movie Have A Post-Credits Scene?“
Filmmaker Guy Ritchie returns to crime comedies with his latest movie, but does The Gentlemen have a post-credits scene setting up a sequel? In the early years of his career, Ritchie made a name for himself with crime comedies like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. In recent years, he’s turned to more established properties, like Sherlock Holmes, The Man From UNCLE and Disney’s live-action Aladdin. Now Ritchie returns to the kinds of films that helped establish him in Hollywood with The Gentlemen. Originally titled Toff Guys, the cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Colin Farrell, Michelle Dockery and more.
The Gentlemen tells the story of American expat Mickey Pearson (McConaughey) who arrives in the UK on a college scholarship but drops out to build up his marijuana business. The movie picks up when Mickey’s older and wants to get out of the game, working on a deal with another American expat to sell his business. However, with rival crime bosses, a slighted newspaper editor and a nosy private investigator all getting involved, Mickey won’t have the easiest time removing himself from this world. The Gentlemen movie trailers have previewed an exciting crime caper with an all-star cast.
Now that The Gentlemen is hitting theaters, those checking it out may be wondering whether they need to stick around for any credits scenes or extra teases. However, The Gentlemen does NOT have a post-credits scene, nor any other tease during the credits. While the credits are always worth watching to get an idea of who helped make a movie, The Gentlemen audiences shouldn’t expect any extra scenes setting up a sequel or offering one last joke.
It remains to be seen whether The Gentlemen receives a sequel. Without spoiling the movie, there is room for Ritchie to further explore this world if he so chooses. So far, The Gentlemen movie reviews have been mixed-to-positive, with the film even scoring the highest Rotten Tomatoes rating of any Ritchie movie. If that remains the case and The Gentlemen finds an audience among casual movie fans, then they may call on the filmmaker to make a sequel. After all, that’s what happened with Ritchie’s The Man From UNCLE, which wasn’t a huge hit in theaters or with critics, but gathered a loyal following who are still asking the director to move forward with a sequel.
Still, it’s unclear if The Gentlemen will inspire a similarly devoted following, or if it will catch on with casual audiences at all. The ending of The Gentlemen ties up (most of) the story, so Ritchie may want to leave it at that. For now, all viewers need to know is that The Gentlemen doesn’t have a post-credits scene, so they shouldn’t wait around through the credits expecting anything extra.
