Persona 5 Strikers Trademarked by Sega as The Phantom Strikers Soon Releases

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers

On December 16, Gematsu reported that a trademark and logo for Persona 5 Strikers was found on Chizai Watch, a third-party database set up to easily see new patents and trademarks from the Japan Patent Office. The logo and trademark for Persona 5 Strikers were filed on December 3 and granted on December 17 for video games and video game-related purposes.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers

Gematsu (and myself) speculate that Persona 5 Strikers could be the shortened English name for Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. It’s common for Persona game names to be changed for a western audience, with notable examples being the western releases of Persona 4 The Golden and Persona 5 The Royal dropping the ‘the’ from the title. Persona 5 Strikers was initially used in the English version of a Nintendo earnings report from October about the upcoming slate of games to be released on the Nintendo Switch.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Meanwhile, Gematsu also reported that Bandai Namco has trademarked the Japanese name for anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime in its full and shortened versions. While the trademarks are for video games and video game-related purposes, they also include the trademarks for swimming earplugs, diving earplugs, life-saving equipment, fire alarm, gas leak alarm, burglar alarm, and many more odd purposes. This is due to the trademark system in Japan lumping all the trademark purposes under some very broad categories. While we doubt that any Slime fire alarms will be coming out any time soon, having one with Milim screaming would definitely wake me up.

There haven’t been announcements for a That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted if anything changes! Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers goes into the metaverse on PS4 and Switch in Japan on February 20, 2020.
